Tryst’s next show will be part of an August comedy double bill in partnership with our good friends at Alloa’s Alman Theatre.

Over the last few years Tryst has willingly performed "over the water" in the Wee County theatre to help raise funds for a costly new roof. Now, thanks to a lot of hard work by many people, the new roof is in place, making the theatre wind and water-tight.

But the fundraising goes on to cover a number of internal upgrades, so we’re joining the Alman in a comedy double-bill at the end of August.

The Alman will stage My Brilliant Divorce, a wonderful comedy story about Angela who attempts to find a new life when husband Max leaves for a younger woman. Using a blend of comedy and pathos, Geraldine Aron recounts Angela's journey back to happiness. This play was shown in London's West End several years ago, with Dawn French in the role of Angela.

Tryst’s contribution is Hallowe’en by James Scotland, a hilarious Scots play about a pair of keen but hopelessly incompetent spell-casting monks. Thanks to getting the ingredients consistently wrong, they manage to materialise some strange and amorous women in their sixteenth-century monastery. Ensuring the ladies keep their clothes on and the Abbot doesn’t find out keeps the laughs coming in this sparkling comedy.

Director Jim Allan said: “I think we can promise mirth, madness and a little bit of magic.”

Tryst Chairman Frank Murray added: "Tryst members are delighted to be back at the Alman, especially with this James Scotland classic, after a gap of a couple of years. They are especially looking forward to viewing the recent upgrade to the venue.”

This double bill will be performed for one week only from Tuesday 28 August to Saturday 1 September with both a matinee and evening performance on the Saturday.

Tickets, £10, are available at almanproductions@aol.co.uk or 07929 561 311 from August 8th.
